Mercury Marine and Mercury Racing made a big splash at the 2017 Miami International Boat Show with nine product launches and an upgraded presence on the water. Consumers pointed to Mercury’s high horsepower outboards and reliability as two of the many reasons for the brands popularity in saltwater markets.
“We decided to make the switch to Mercury and I’m glad we did,” said Colin Byrd, Mexican Gulf Fishing Company charter captain. “We ran just shy of 1,700 hours and all we did was change the oil and put fuel in it. Our Mercury’s are easy to service and great for our boat. Reliability is what a buyer wants to see. They want to be confident in the product and when you are confident in the product, you have no worries.”
Here’s a look back at Mercury’s presence at the boat show including a ride along with Indy Car driver Ryan Hunter-Reay.
“We are thrilled with Mercury’s presence at the 2017 Miami Boat Show,” said John Pfeifer, Mercury Marine president. “Our new product offerings from Mercury and Mercury Racing were very well received and we look forward to our customers experiencing those products on the water.”
Mercury’s new products from the 2017 Miami boat show include:
- Mercury Diesel 6.7L (480/500/550hp)
- Joystick Piloting for Inboards (single and dual engine application)
“Joystick Piloting for Inboards has been the talk of the boat shows so far in 2017 and we are excited to expand that offering to larger boats that offer dual engines,” said John Buelow, Mercury Marine vice president of global category management. “This will allow consumers who have tow sport boats as well as larger inboard boats to take advantage of the joystick technology.”
- VesselView 703
- Skyhook Advanced Features
New Skyhook Advanced Features include:
- Heading Adjust provides Joystick operators with the ability to adjust the heading lock in 1- and 10-degree increments while SkyHook is active, making vessel control even more precise.
- BowHook can be used to unlock heading and just maintain position, allowing the boat to point in whatever direction the winds and currents dictate. This feature is useful when a locked-in heading is not necessary.
- DriftHook lets the operator maintain heading and unlock the position of the vessel allowing winds and currents to move the vessel along. Adjustments of 1- and 10-degree increments can be made while drifting when bundled with Heading Adjust.
Mercury Racing also had a big presence at the 2017 Miami International Boat show with four product launches including the company’s largest and most powerful sterndrive offering:
